Lisa Rosenberg will discuss paths of exploration in science and poetry in “A Different Physics: The Poetics of Discovery,” in conversation with astrophysicist Roger Blandford, as part of SLAC’s Art Meets Science Lecture Series. LOCAL ROOTS: An Afternoon of Poetry and Indigenous Edibles

San Mateo County Libraries with San Mateo County Poet Laureate Aileen Cassinetto welcome poet Ron Riekki, author of My Ancestors Are Reindeer Herders and I Am Melting In Extinction: Saami-American Non-Fiction, Fiction, and Poetry; and chef/lecturer John Farais, native plant specialist and food educator, for an afternoon of poetry and food tasting. Riekki will read with regional current and former Poets Laureate Caroline Goodwin, Jacki Rigoni, Lisa Rosenberg, and Tanu Wakefield, followed by a tasting with Chef Farais, This family-friendly event is free and open to the public, but space is limited and RSVP is required. California Wildfires Benefit

Join us at Green Apple Book’s 9th Avenue location for a special night of poetry to help raise money for victims of the California Wildfires. Featuring readings by Kim Shuck, Julie Bruck, Rebecca Foust, Lisa Rosenberg, Maw Shein Win, and Barbara Berman. All of the poets, as well as Dean Rader, Eavan Boland and Michael Warr, will be giving away a signed copy of one of their books on a first come basis. Women in STEAM in Space, Panel Discussion

Lisa Rosenberg joins a diverse group of women from NASA, SETI, and the arts, to talk about the work they do and their career paths. Engage with engineers, biologists, artists, and people in other fields that surprisingly link with space programs. It takes more than just rocket scientists to be part of space missions. Bring your questions and curiosity. The panel, hosted by SETI’s Margaret Race, is part of a day-long offering of hands-on activities and more, all about women doing incredible work in STEAM careers in space.
