California Wildfires Benefit

Join us at Green Apple Book’s 9th Avenue location for a special night of poetry to help raise money for victims of the California Wildfires. Featuring readings by Kim Shuck, Julie Bruck, Rebecca Foust, Lisa Rosenberg, Maw Shein Win, and Barbara Berman. All of the poets, as well as Dean Rader, Eavan Boland and Michael Warr, will be giving away a signed copy of one of their books on a first come basis. Women in STEAM in Space, Panel Discussion

Lisa Rosenberg joins a diverse group of women from NASA, SETI, and the arts, to talk about the work they do and their career paths. Engage with engineers, biologists, artists, and people in other fields that surprisingly link with space programs. It takes more than just rocket scientists to be part of space missions. Bring your questions and curiosity. Home Again: Tapestry Reimagined

A statewide gathering of California’s regional and state poets laureate, with public readings at 2:00PM (city laureates), 3:30PM (county laureates), and 5:00 PM (current and former state laureates). The readings are part of a day-long, historic gathering led by California State Poet Laureate Dana Gioia, and co-sponsored by Engaging the Senses Foundation, the California Arts Council, the McGroarty Arts Center, and the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
